Job Purpose |
To support the Head of Network Development in all planning activities for Etihad Airways’ global network. The primary responsibility of the Senior Manager Network Development will be to lead a team of Network Planners in the development of Etihad’s network.

Responsibilities |
Lead the development of Etihad’s network strategy, and ensure that it is followed in all elements of the airline’s network development, by translating the longer term plan into actionable objectives.
Provide the Head of Network Development with timely support & advice championing activities and projects to achieve maximum network profitability in-line with the overall departmental strategy.
Lead a team of Network Planners in the use of network planning systems, tools and macro environment knowledge, to model scenarios and provide recommendations to the Executive team for new routes and major capacity changes.
Provide the Executive team with accurate forecasts and recommendations for seasonal schedule adjustments to ensure assets are deployed for maximum profitability.
Consult, engage with and present to senior stakeholders across the business including Network Planning, Corporate Strategy, Revenue Management, Legal, Commercial, Government & International Affairs, Finance, and Operations on all aspects of Etihad’s network strategy and development.
Lead the development and refresh of the 5 year and 10 year network plans, ensuring they embody Etihad’s network strategy; achieve defined financial objectives; and are deliverable within the planned fleet and airport infrastructure.
Provide recommendations supported by analysis for optimising the composition and configuration of the fleet according to Etihad’s corporate product strategy
Develop partner and codeshare evaluations in coordination with the Head of Partner Networks and the Alliances Team. Provide recommendations on network optimisation to maximise partnership synergies.
Act as the single point of contact within the Network Planning team for information on Etihad’s network development (i.e. key liaison with Corporate Communications on the provision of network development information and statistics)
Deputise for the Head of Network Development as and when required

Requirements |
Qualification & Education:
Educated to a minimum of degree level in Business, Engineering or Mathematical related topic from an internationally recognized university
A Masters degree in Business or Operations Research Management would be an advantage.
Experience:
Post holder must have a minimum of 10 years experience with a reputable airline
At least 5 years in Network Planning experience with proven ability in developing, presenting and supporting business cases
Ideally leading a team of people
Training & Knowledge:
Recognised IATA or Airline Certification in Network Planning, an advantage
Industry leading numeracy skills, with a thorough understanding of financial concepts
Detailed knowledge of airline network planning and industry data sources
Airline planning courses
Operations Research Management courses would be advantageous
Strong negotiating and influencing skills
Thorough understanding of aircraft cost drivers
Understanding of airline revenue concepts and aircraft performance factors
Excellent analytical skills
Excellent written and verbal English
Excellent communication skills
Project Management skill
Must be computer literate in Word, Power Point, & MS Office applications
High computer literacy in Microsoft Office projects and particularly Excel
