Project Description
The objective of the five year project (“MERIT”) is to support Malawi Government’s aim to increase the reading skills of 5.58 million primary school students in Malawi by focusing resources, encouraging innovation, and striving to meet the global need for improved access to a quality education over the life of the five year strategy, through: (a) improving reading instruction in the primary grades; (b) increasing parental and community support for student reading; and, finally, (c) improving the policy environment for reading. Creative is looking to assemble a strong team whose combined skills and experience can achieve these goals. Creative is currently seeking candidates for the Community Mobilization and Engagement position.
Required Skills and Qualifications
· Experience mobilizing parents support to students’ acquisition of reading skills, in particular students enrolled in early grades of primary education.
· Experience developing easy to use training materials for training of communities in support of early grade reading activities.
· Demonstrated successful professional career in community management, community mobilization, working through communities and working with communities.
· Ability to interact and build performing relationships with stakeholders especially with organizations, departments and institutions that complements the acquisition of reading skills at school and community level.
· Demonstrated ability to transferring of reading instruction capacity to illiterate parents so that they in turn use the reading instruction skills to support students after classes desired.
