Organizational context and impact of results
Under the guidance and supervision of the Director, FI2, the Senior Banker is responsible for transactions in both private and public sectors related to financial sector, ensuring high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery, including achievement of budget qualitative and quantitative targets. He/she performs specific tasks aimed to support development and implementation of financial operations at various stages of the operation cycle within the Department’s area of responsibilities and is actively involved in the implementation of the Divisional/Departmental strategy and Work Plan.
The expected key impact of the work of the Senior Banker FI2 is to significantly contribute to the achievement of the Department’s and Banking Division’s business targets and to ensure a recognized advancing of the Bank’s developmental mission and mandate.
Functions
- Contributes to the FI2 activities: originates, screens, structures and negotiates loan/ equity/ guarantee transactions in both private and public sectors; identifies and screens investment proposals; carries out financial, technical, legal and environmental due diligence and prepares project documentation; supervises existing investments; proposes amendments to internal procedures to reflect new products; is up-to-date with the clients’ developments and proactively seeks interventions in case of necessity (i.e. preparation of amendments and waiver requests); controls reporting by the clients and compliance with legal terms and conditions.
- Develops the portfolio in the respective countries of direct responsibility;
- Develops and maintains relationships with relevant parties and authorities, including existing and potential clients;
- Actively participates in marketing and business development efforts with particular focus on countries of direct responsibility;
- Promotes the Bank’s activities through participation in various events.

Minimum requirements for the position
- Education: First-level University degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Experience: at least 8 years of relevant working experience gained in: i) corporate/project finance/structured finance group/department of a commercial or development bank, or a major international investor/merchant, or ii) an international corporation or institution having BSTDB sector specialty.
- Strong analytical and financial background.
- Successful track record of working through the project cycle; proven track record of transactions.
- Relevant experience in structuring credit, equity and guarantee transactions including legal documentation in both public and private sector projects.
- Computer skills: Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
- Advanced understanding of investment and financial analysis and their application in investment decisions and transaction structuring.
- Excellent command of English.
Desirable education/qualifications/knowledge/skills:
- Postgraduate degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Experience in an international development financial institution.
- Experience in the region of the BSTDB’s operations.
- Good knowledge of a language of the Bank’s member states.
