Global Citizenship Fellows Program, Constituent Engagement Fellow:The Constituent Engagement Fellow will support the core functions and goals of the Program and Community Engagement Division. The Fellowship is a highly-selective, full-time, 13 month program that prepares diverse, committed, and globally-minded individuals for effective leadership in public service. By helping to establish UNICEF’s domestic imprint, the Fellows exemplify the concept of the “global citizen” as someone who understands global interconnectedness, respects and values diversity, has the ability to challenge injustice and inequalities, and takes action in a way that is personally meaningful. Fellows aim to inspire their communities to take action for the world’s children by engaging local groups and cultivating awareness.
The Program and Community Engagement Division develops engagement and advocacy activities for constituents across the country to take action locally in their communities while having a global impact in advancing UNICEF’s work. Supporting organizational campaigns such as Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and the UNICEF Tap Project, and departmental initiatives such as advancing our advocacy strategies, creating resources to tell the stories from around the globe, supporting our education efforts, and more, the Constituent Engagement Fellow works closely with multiple departments and initiatives to support clubs and their activities. He/She will also design handouts, resources, videos and other multi-media tools to help educate grass roots supporters. The Fellow may solicit feedback for the purposes of impact measurement and make ongoing recommendations regarding the organization’s strategic plan, as it relates to the Winning Hearts and Minds of the American Public.
The Fellow will report to the Vice President of Community Engagement. This fellowship is located in New York City.
Core Objectives and Key Responsibilities:
· Create resources to support constituents in executing advocacy, education and fundraising events for major campaigns, including, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF and UNICEF Tap Project and others.
· Assist in creating, updating and designing program resources, including, but not limited to newsletters, handbooks, one-pagers, program videos, etc., working with other departments to do so
· Assist in completing yearly survey analysis – mapping trends and best practices from year to year
· Explore new platforms such as “crowd map” and creating digital community maps of Fellows’ work
· Conduct research on prospective local partnerships for Fellows’ engagement in Winning Hearts and Minds
· Create and post content on Global Citizenship Fellows Program, TeachUNICEF, UNICEFUSA, and other webpages
· Collaborate with 17 other Engagement Fellows in supporting and engaging outreach efforts by developing tools and resources
· Other duties as assigned
Periodic workshops, activities, trainings, and other professional development activities will be a part of the Fellow’s continuing education and support structure.
The Global Citizenship Fellows Program also offers:
· A deep understanding of complex, global issues facing the world’s children
· Training in UNICEF domestic initiatives, program and curriculum design, metrics and reporting, development and relationship building, group training, and consensus building
· Leadership skills development in problem-solving, volunteer engagement, community outreach, event planning, nonprofit management, communication, public speaking, creating and implementing workshops, and program management
· Hands-on project implementation experience
· Extensive personal and professional networking opportunities
Eligibility/Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of children’s rights and international issues, familiarity with experiential learning techniques, general volunteer management experience, as well as a commitment to public service. The ideal fellow will have some graphic design and video skills, experience creating engaging digital and print assets, familiarity with online platforms, HTML, and be a resourceful and energetic self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work autonomously. Candidate must be a team player who embraces the mission of UNICEF and the USF, and is highly motivated and enthusiastic.
All candidates must be available to start on the indicated start date (July 13, 2015), commit for the full term(through July 29, 2016).
Qualifications also include:
· Undergraduate degree and/or equivalent experience; professional or academic background in advocacy, education, civic engagement, international affairs, or related fields
· Demonstrated experience creating resources, tools and presentations
· Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail is essential
· Must be a creative thinker with ability to proactively develop new ideas and outreach strategies
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while consistently meeting deadlines and working across teams
· Experience making presentations and leading trainings to small and large groups, preferred
· Strong communication skills, both oral and written
· Expertise in Microsoft Office (Outlook- 2010 preferred, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
· Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekend and evening commitments and travel

Fellows will receive a taxable stipend of $30,000 for the thirteen-month Fellowship. Fellows are also eligible to enroll in the U.S. Fund for UNICEF’s medical and dental plans after thirty (30) days of employment. Applicants must possess current and valid U.S. Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any U.S. employer without sponsorship.
