OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : As a Driver/Clerk to the WR, the incumbent will ensure efficient transport services of WRO, assisting other clerical tasks on travel and visa processing for the AUC partnership with other support staff in the Country Office. | |
Description of duties: The incumbent works under the supervision of the WHO Representative and also assisting the AUC Partnership Officer in clerical and transport services. WR identifies trips/assignments. Incumbent has some flexibility for planning and scheduling routes. Manuals available are Traffic instructions/street plans; WR directives/instructions; and Vehicles maintenance manual. Under the supervision of the Operations Officer, the incumbent performs the following duties :- 1. Drives the head of the Office (WR) and other high ranking Officials; 2. Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities; 3. Provides transport service to WHO staff (HQ,AFRO,IST) in relation to African Union (AU) activities 4. Assists with Protocol and Visa formalities for WHO delegations to all AUC and partner meetings and forums 5. Provides backup support to WCO/ETH travel, protocol, and visa services 6. Collects and delivers mail, pouch and other official documents whenever required; 7. Responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the vehicle, checks oil, water, battery, brakes, tires and ensures that vehicle is kept clean and is in good running condition at all the times; 8. Maintains log book for official travel, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes etc.; 9. Ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accident; 10. Performs other duties whenever required based on clearance from WR. | |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | |
Education: Completion of secondary school education and a valid driver's licenses of the country. | |
Skills: Basic word processing or other software packages, and standard office equipment. Formal or self-training in the use of standard office software. | |
Experience: At least four years driving experience as a driver and A safe driving record. | |
Languages: Language proficiency of the duty station, English and the local language are required. | |
Additional Information: Work might require driving for long periods, lifting pouch bags, some of which are over 25 kgs and also driving subject to weather and traffic risks.
