Policy Officer, Sustainable Finance

by Unknown  |  at  2:22 PM

WWF, the global conservation organisation, is looking to fill a full-time position, in its European Policy Office (WWF EPO) to work as a:

Policy Officer, Sustainable Finance
Location:
WWF European Policy Office in Brussels, Belgium.
Main responsibilities:
The Policy Officer, Sustainable Finance will focus on three main areas of work:
  1. Public export credits for coal: The OECD and the G7 committed to discuss how to curb public export credits for coal in order to fight climate change before the climate COP21 in December 2015. This needs an EU position as a first step, followed by an OECD compromise;
  2. Private investments in the coal sector: Some mainstream investors started to divest from coal companies for both climate/ethical and economic/financial reasons. WWF is developing a robust rationale to engage with investors on the issue;
  3. Private investments and climate change: There are many EU regulations shaping the framework for EU private finance, but so far they fail to integrate low carbon requirement aiming at ensuring consistency of investment portfolios with the 2°C climate limit. WWF is willing to identify and map the most relevant EU regulations / policies and stakeholders for that purpose.
The  Policy Officer, Sustainable Finance will support the team leader in organising and coordinating WWF EPO’s activities and policy work related to the three above mentioned areas. This involves support in coordinating the strategic planning / development of relevant materials and expertise (briefings, in depth work on targeted issues, etc.) / advocacy activities / support to communication activities with the communication team / coordination with national WWF offices and other relevant organisations, etc.
