SENIOR INVESTMENT OFFICER

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused exclusively on the private sector. We help developing countries achieve sustainable growth by financing investment, providing advisory services to businesses and governments, and mobilizing capital in the international financial markets.
IFC Western Europe is working to recruit a seasoned investment professional to develop new business across a range of sectors, with a geographical focus on Germany and other German-speaking countries. He/she will work closely with sector teams across IFC and Western Europe team to expand IFC’s client base and originate transactions. The overall goal of the position is to maximize the impact of IFC’s intervention and its corporate goals by developing innovative, developmental, and profitable investments.
Requirements:
• MBA or equivalent, 10+ years of experience in finance, including project, structured or corporate finance in a commercial/investment banking setting, fluency in German.
• Deep understanding and first-hand experience of the challenges of investing in emerging markets.
• Deep understanding of the German corporate market and business culture; existing client network a strong plus.
• Demonstrated business development and client relationship management skills; ability to focus effectively on client needs.
• Intimate knowledge of IFC products and services, risk appetite, and financing requirements.
• Excellent financial and credit skills; demonstrated ability to structure a variety of complex financial instruments (senior/junior debt, equity, etc.).
• Sound business judgment to identify potential business partners.
• Ability to interact directly and independently with the senior management of potential clients, and business partners, as well as other stakeholders.
