Program Coordinator, 2016 HBS-Accion Executive Education Program

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Accion is a global nonprofit dedicated to building a financially inclusive world with economic opportunity for all, by giving people the financial tools they need to improve their lives.  We are building the next generation of top-tier microfinance institutions, and over the last 50 years have helped create 64 such institutions in 32 countries on four continents that today reach millions of clients. Our impact investing initiatives are pushing beyond microfinance to catalyze more than 20 innovative start-ups dedicated to improving the efficiency, reach and scope of financial services for the poor.  And our Center for Financial Inclusion is helping to build a stronger industry with high standards. Currently, our work spans nearly two dozen countries, including the U.S., where we are the nation’s largest nonprofit microfinance network.
ABOUT THE JOB: 
The HBS Program Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the 2016 Harvard Business School-Accion Program on Strategic Leadership in Inclusive Finance. This program was the first executive education program to provide high-level management and leadership training to those shaping the microfinance industry globally, including CEOs of leading microfinance institutions and executives of mainstream banks entering the microfinance market. In the past, HBS and Accion have brought together leaders from roughly 100 countries – including over 300 CEOs, presidents, managing  directors, and other high level executives from some of the field’s leading microfinance institutions and financial service providers. The partnership between Harvard Business School and Accion is now in its 11th year.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Work with Program Supervisor to implement marketing plan in coordination with the communications team;
  • Process all incoming program applications; manage acceptance and payment process;
  • Maintain all application details in an up-to-date database;
  • Confirm receipt of all applications and manage all program inquiries from applicants;
  • Maintain list of accepted/rejected/waitlist participants;
  • Track program acceptances and fill free spaces as necessary;
  • Track deposits and payments for program;
  • Work with HBS Executive Education team to ensure that necessary visa letters are sent out in a timely fashion;
  • Support distribution of scholarships;
  • Process scholarship applications;
  • Work with the accounting department to generate and amend invoices;
  • Manage communication with scholarship recipients;
  • Pre-program preparations;
  • Maintain an up-to date status of final participants;
  • Assemble a demographical database of all participants for program;
  • Work with HBS Executive Education team to finalize pre-program preparations.
Qualifications:
  • Availability of 35 hours a week from end of October - end of April 2016;
  • One year of experience with data and correspondence management is helpful;
  • Experience with Salesforce, or equivalent CRM is preferred;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to correspond with applicants in a professional manner;
  • Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently;
  • Excellent at multi-tasking with a positive, can-do attitude;
  • Interested in our mission and working globally;
