Regional Manager Africa and Middle East

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: 
Triodos Investment Management, a 100% subsidiary of Triodos Bank, is a globally recognised leader in impact investment, managing direct investments around themes including climate and energy, inclusive finance in emerging markets, sustainable trade, organic food and agriculture, arts and culture, sustainable real estate and listed companies with above average environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance. Our business has grown on the basis of deep market sector insights and commitment to sustainability objectives of our partners. We currently manage 17+ funds (totalling €2.9 billion) investing in both Europe and emerging markets.
The Emerging Markets team of Triodos Investment Management manages funds that invest in financial institutions specialised in the provision of microfinance and SME finance in developing countries with a combined volume of EUR 700 million.
ABOUT THE JOB: 
Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Be the primary representative of Triodos Investment Management and its mission in the region and an entrepreneurial and catalytic force in establishing our success in the region;
  • The regional manager reports to the Head of Investments Emerging Markets;
  • Manage a team of Investment Officers and Commercial Assistants;
  • Build the capacity of the team to provide value adding finance to clients;
  • Lead the development of our regional debt and equity investment strategy and ensure excellent portfolio quality in the region, both in terms of risk management and sustainability development;
  • Member of the (regional) investment committee;
  • Depending on span of control, develop and maintain a client portfolio and work on transactions (including client analysis, risk assessments, investment proposals etc.) and serve on the board of investee companies;
  • Initiate, maintain and deepen contacts with (potential) clients and other stakeholders such as network partners, development finance institutions, technical assistance providers and support agencies in order to develop new opportunities.
Qualifications:
  • Strong affinity with sustainable finance and sustainable development goals;
  • Acknowledged and reputable investment professional and leader in the region;
  • Good team building and leadership skills;
  • A result-oriented, open and entrepreneurial work attitude;
  • Strong analytical, commercial, strategic, planning and legal skills;
  • Excellent communication and networking skills;
  • Fluent in English and French;
  • Willingness to travel abroad on a regular basis;
  • Academic degree, preferably Business Economics;
  • Significant banking or other relevant experience (min 8 years) with a focus on (international) finance, preferably as a senior investment manager;
  • Experience in managing a team of highly trained professionals;
  • In possession of a strong and relevant network in the respective region.
