Assistant General Manager - Catering

Job Purpose

The role holder has the responsibility for ensuring that the assigned departments within EAS Catering function efficiently, profitably and to the required service levels, controlling all costs in terms of material, manpower and operations, to lead and support any projects undertaken by EAS Catering, to ensure that EAS Catering are aligned with the future vision of Etihad.
Responsibilities 
  • To oversee and direct the management of Service Logistics, Bond Stores, Airline Equipment, Laundry, Transport, Facilities Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Monitor, manage and report financial, safety, quality and service related key performance indicators for the departments under the post holder’s responsibility.
  • Prepare and present annual budgets and forecasts for manning, operating expenditure and capital expenditure for the role holders departments in alignment with corporate strategy.
  • Develop and implement LEAN processes within the role holders departments integrating process flows and cost reduction strategies.
  • Lead the EAS Catering Facilities Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance departments, developing preventative maintenance plans, controlling cost, ensuring efficient use of equipment, accident/incident prevention and increased safety.
  • To ensure efficient use of equipment and personnel in order to meet the on time performance demands of the business.
  • To ensure that all relevant training is provided in line with company, customer and local authorities to all departments within the role holders remit.
  • Assist the General Manager of EAS Catering in the development and execution of large scale projects undertaken to meet the capacity demands of the business, including concept design, feasibility studies, detailed designs, procurement, phasing, construction and commissioning.
  • Utilize the capabilities within the departments under the role holder’s direction to support the development of any other business managed by EAS Catering.
  • Maintain an overview of the financial position of the company and how the departments under the role holders control are contributing to this. Identify and implement projects that will improve the financial performance of the company.
Requirements

Qualification & Education:
  • Educated to a graduate level.
Experience:
  • The minimum requirement would be eight years working in a similar role. This would be in a management position with a headcount of 500+ staff. 
Training & Knowledge:
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Analytical skills, presentation and communication skills
  • Financial and budgetary knowledge
  • Knowledge in information systems / good IT skills
  • LEAN Management
  • Food safety management systems
