Overview:
One of the hallmarks of the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is simultaneous and intensive engagement on the demand and supply sides of the market to improve access to medicines and diagnostics for patients in developing countries.  CHAI’s Drug Access Team (DAT) works to address supply-side barriers to access and to foster a healthy marketplace to ensure the sustainable supply of essential medicines at lower prices, while CHAI’s country teams partner with national governments to strengthen the systems required to deliver treatment. In support of this activity, CHAI Swaziland is working with the Swaziland Health Laboratory Services (SHLS) to support the roll-out of new diagnostic technologies, as well as strengthen their equipment and supply management capabilities. Timely and reliable access to laboratory services is an essential part of the country’s commitment to increasing the number of people receiving high-quality HIV testing, care, and treatment services.

CHAI is seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials, analytical ability, and communication skills to support the CHAI Swaziland program in its activities to ensure patients have access to high quality, efficient laboratory services by supporting the SHLS to develop financial and operational analysis on new product implementation, as well as supporting operational roll-out of new diagnostic services.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the SHLS to understand the market for new diagnostic technologies and to develop financial and operational analysis to support decision making on the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of current and future testing options
  • Strengthen the capacity of the SHLS to utilize and manage robust forecasting and supply planning practices for laboratory commodities
  • Assist SHLS to validate, rationalize and make efficient use of data to inform purchasing and improve supply-chain management and performance
  • Work with the SHLS to improve operations and data management systems in core lab administrative areas, including human resources and financial management
  • Support the SHLS to develop plans and tools to manage laboratory human resources
  • Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree/tertiary degree in business or health-related field

  • Demonstrated ability to perform consistently at a high level in unstructured, high-pressure situations
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently and flexibly with a strong commitment to excellence and limited supervision
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English
