EMERGECY/PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT

The post-holder will assist children and adults to cope with the separation /living in camps anxiety and help care givers gain the knowledge and skills to create a child-friendly and safe environment for children. He/she will also provide technical support to implement the psychosocial care and support and child protection components in the ongoing emergency response. Facilitate psychosocial care and support for staff of Plan and Plan partner organizations.
Skills specific to the post
· Proven capacity to train, coach staff and provide supportive supervision
· Proven effective management skills leading teams across several locations and operating in a cross cultural structure
· Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
· Excellent written and spoken English
· Experience of grants management and reporting requirements with donors such as ECHO, UNHCR, Sida, DFID etc.
· Excellent project design, participatory monitoring and evaluation skills
· Ability to work under high pressure with a great level of personal organisation
· Strong communication and reporting skills
· Ability to propose workable solutions and identify their implications (positive and negative) adapted to the psychosocial needs of patients and his family.
· Effective communicator using clear messages drawn from Plan’s work
· Cross-culturally adept and ability to work in emergency settings
· Ready to work to influence leaders in governments, international bodies, key constituencies in Plan, partners and communities
· A team player across the organisation and in teams.
· Supports learning and a sense of mutual purpose in diverse teams
· Remains calm and positive under pressure and in difficult situations
Qualifications and experience
· Ideally a psychosocial and child protection professional with relevant degree in Psychology, anthropology, Social work or equivalent
· Strong understanding of general child protection issues
· Demonstrate good understanding of psychosocial in emergencies.
· Understanding of a comprehensive approach on disability issues and vulnerability in term of psychosocial consequences.
· Extensive knowledge of emergency psychosocial work, design and implementation of feeding programs including monitoring and evaluation.
· Knowledge of international humanitarian standards and codes of conduct.
· Demonstrated effective communication, analytical and problem solving skills. Experience in coordination and technical assistance provision at the level of working group/task force or equivalent.
