Financial systems consultant

African Parks is a non-profit organisation that takes total responsibility for the rehabilitation and long-term management of national parks in partnership with governments and local communities. Our approach combines world-class conservation practice with business expertise. We place emphasis on achieving financial sustainability of the parks by combining long-term donor funding with tourism revenues, related business enterprise and payment for ecosystem services, which all serve as a foundation for economic development and poverty alleviation. It is our belief that making wildlife parks socially and economically viable, particularly for the benefit of local communities, will contribute to their survival in the face of competing forms of land use.
African Parks is implementing its new accounting software to support its expansion programme and is looking for someone who has worked in an ERP environment.
Experience/Background of the person
Has an undergraduate in finance or accounting;
Has worked on an ERP system for a minimum period of 3 years; Is willing and able to be based in South Africa during the duration of the implementation;
Has excellent excel and data mining skills;
Understands and can map an ERP infrastructure;
Can think “out of box” when it comes to integration of various systems and generation of new ideas;
Consulting experience highly desired;
Strong written and verbal communications skills;
French is an added advantage
Description of tasks
Will assist in the design of the new chart of accounts and integration of the system
Assistance in the migration of data from the old system to the new system
Design of various reporting tools: budgets, consolidation, board meeting dashboards etc
Manage the project plan
Volunteer contribution
African Parks will contribute to return tickets to RSA and accommodation. The position will be based on Johannesburg.
