SOUTH AFRICA - UNFPA EASTERN CAPE YOUTH ADVISORY PANEL

by Unknown  |  at  6:24 AM

Closing date: Midnight South Africa time on 18 October 2015
Remuneration: Membership of the Youth Advisory Panel is purely voluntary and there is no remuneration. UNFPA will cover the costs of travel and accommodation for members to attend meetings of the Youth Advisory Panel.
SPW South Africa Trust (also known as Restless Development South Africa) is an implementing Partner of UNFPA, leading the Safe Guard Young People (SYP) Programme in three districts (OR Tambo, Amathole and Alfred Nzo) in the Eastern Cape. The goal of the SYP programme is to contribute towards the improvement of the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) status of young people aged 10 – 24, with a special focus on HIV prevention. As part of the programme, a number of core activities will be undertaken in 2015 aimed at strengthening the capacity of Government and Eastern Cape partners, to improve and expand HIV prevention, and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for adolescents and youth.
In 2013, UNFPA established a Youth Advisory Panel (YAP) to actualise our commitment to empower young people to participate in decisions that affect their lives, express their views and opinions in accordance with basic human rights principles and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The YAP gives young people a voice and helps to guide UNFPA’s priority-setting in this core area of our mandate, and involve young people and youth-serving organizations in advising UNFPA in the design of youth-friendly policies and programmes from a results-based perspective. The YAP demonstrates a shift away from working for young people, to working in partnership with young people to ensure youth-friendly approaches and action.
We are currently recruiting for new members of the Youth Advisory Panel. Please see the Terms of Reference for more details.
To apply, interested applicants are requested to submit the following to zaf.admin@unfpa.org

  • CV
  • Letter of support / endorsement from the organisation/s to which you are affiliated.
