OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME : Country Management Support Units (CSUs) have been established in the organisational structure to provide support to managers and staff to fully assume their responsibilities in the Global Management System (GSM) environment and to ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, rules and regulations on all administrative and financial matters and transactions in the context of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. | |
Description of duties: Under the general supervision and guidance of the Operations Officer and close supervision of the Finance Officer, the incumbent performs the following functions: 1. Assists in Budget preparation, Award Activations, Workplan Funding and Award Budgets against approved project and allocations; 2. Assists with the preparation of various budgetary information/reports; 3. Assists with review of expenditure data with special emphasis on expenditure codes, use of appropriate commitment documents etc; 4. Assists with the monitoring and regular review and timely closure of encumbrances; 5. Assists in the review and follow up of SHI Claims 6. Assists in compilation and submission of claims for VAT and reconciliation and clearance of the VAT account; and 7. Performs any other duties as assigned. | |
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS | |
Education: ESSENTIAL: Completion of secondary, technical or commercial school. DESIRABLE: BA degree or higher qualification in accounting or finance will be an advantage. | |
Skills: Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and implement inputs from several sources; to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; to conceptualize and carry out tasks with little supervision; to provide financial analytical reports, using appropriate software; to interpret financial rules and regulations; and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. OTHER SKILLS: Computer literacy and ability to effectively use a variety of software. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential. Knowledge and experience of working in an ERP environment will be an advantage. Experience: ESSENTIAL: 8 years of working experience in finance, budget and related accounting field. DESIRABLE: Experience within UN or other international or multinational organizations will be an advantage. | |
Languages: - Excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English. - Knowledge of other UN official and local languages would be an advantage. | |
