Two-year fixed-term contract
London SW1, Pall Mall
The Commonwealth Secretariat are proud to be supporting youth empowerment through our newly created Young Professionals Programme (YPP). The YPP creates multiple opportunities for talented and qualified young people from across the Commonwealth to contribute to our core work through the transference of technical expertise, innovative ideas, specialist knowledge and fresh perspectives.
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our Finance and Development Policy Section within our Economic Policy Division. The Section focuses on financing for development issues. It places a strong emphasis on the adequacy of the international financial and development architecture to facilitate growth and development and advocates for policies which address the needs and vulnerabilities of the developing membership of the Commonwealth. In doing so, emphasis is placed on research and analysis, policy development, facilitation of discussion and debate, consensus building and advocacy to focus international attention on issues and solutions.
The Assistant Research Officer will assist with coordination and implementation of work on financing for development. Specifically the Officer will provide junior research and programme support in the organisation and implementation of the sections work programme.
To be considered for this role you must be a citizen of a Commonwealth country aged 27 years or younger at the time applications close, and possess a strong bachelor degree or equivalent in international development, finance, business, economics, or the humanities. You will possess at least one year of demonstrated work experience in research or international development gained through employment, internships or voluntary roles.
If you are keen to gain excellent experience in one of the world’s most high-profile youth development programmes and can thrive in our multi-cultural environment, we look forward to hearing from you.
There is a comprehensive list of all YPP roles.  You should be selective in your applications; we will accept a maximum of three applications for YPP roles from each candidate.
