The Finance Officer - Programme will perform the following duties:
a) Prepares donor reports that agree with underlying Navision data
b) Prepares and monitors staff cost recovery against cost of employment
c) Prepares project in deficit report for the Kenya projects and liaise with country Finance officers where a project is in more than one country
d) Cost recovery-Review time sheets and calculate management fees and book on a monthly basis
e) Review projects payments to ensure proper coding and availability of budget
f) Monitor project budgets and alert budget holders of any potential problems
g) Maintain an updated ABC list for the Kenya office
h) Key in new projects dimensions and budgets in NAV.
i) Support project audits
j) Raise invoices to donors timely
k) Train implementing partners on IUCN requirements to ensure compliance
l) Provide monthly project financial reports to project managers.
m) Process project related expense claims in the accounting system
n) Receive and process reports from implementing partners and do the necessary reconciliation
OTHER DUTIES
a) Develop capacity of non-finance staff on IUCN & relevant donor financial management guidelines, policies and procedures
b) Maintain an updated memorandum register of fixed assets acquired by the various projects in order to track the acquisition, movement and disposal of such project fixed assets in line with donor agreements.
Carry out any other duties that may be assigned by supervisors from time to time.
COMPETENCIES
(i) First degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
(ii) Relevant professional qualification in accounting – CPA, ACCA level II, CIMA preferred.At least 3 years relevant work experience in similar capacity with a recognized regional or international development agency.
(iii) Good verbal and written communication skills in English. Working knowledge of Kiswahili and another AU/IUCN/Regional language would be an added advantage.
(iv) Working Knowledge of use of ERP-Navision.
(v) Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
(vi) Maintains High personal integrity and confidentiality.
(vii) Result oriented person with attention to detail and accuracy.
(viii) Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining work relationships in the face of conflicting demands.Excellent relationship management and communication skills with the ability to work in a dynamic team environment
(ix) A confident and positive attitude with excellent cultural awareness and sensitivity
(x) Willingness to travel
(xi) A self-starter who requires minimum supervision.
