PSYCHOSOCIAL COORDINATOR FOR THE EBOLA TREATMENT CENTER OUT REACH PROGRAM

MISsION
Development and monitoring of the project currently implemented in Sierra Leone, ensuring appropriateness of actions in respect of Médicos del Mundo (MdM) policies and of the identifications already made.
JOB SUMMARY
Coordinates and manages psychosocial team, and ensures that all the outreach and ETC activities are carried as planned.
GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE OF INTERVENTION
Sierra Leone, at Moyamba MDM ETC and district’ chiefdoms
ORGANIZATION CHART
The successful candidate will be part of the Humanitarian Action - Ebola Unit and will refer to the Project Coordinator of the ETC.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The psychosocial coordinator is aware of the risks of working in an EVD affected area.
The psychosocial coordinator follows all regulations concerning infection, control and protection measures. Non-adherence to the safety regulations can result in immediate dismissal.
General Responsibilities
Responsible for all psychosocial activities linked to the outreach intervention regarding EVD outbreak:
  • He/she will coordinate the field implementation of teachers training on psychological support for the back to school government program.
  • He/she will coordinate the identification of the psychosocial and GBV key issues and needs as EVD challenges and side effects for survivors, families and communities and will be in charge of implementing solutions to respond to those needs.
  • He/she will coordinate the field implementation of health community personnel trainings in relevant mental health issues to deal with EVD challenges and side effects including GBV needs.
  • He/she will coordinate awareness campaigns on EVD related issues.
He/she will be responsible to put in place a collective and community based approach in all activities
  • Capacity building of local staff and public institutions continuity.
He/she will ensure MdM representation in the psychosocial pillar and other relevant district pillars.
  • Organizes and leads regular meetings and emotional debriefings for the psychosocial team.
  • Capacity to provide psychological support individual and groups for all the MDM staff in case it is needed
Human resource Management
To supervise and guide the psychosocial team (Psychosocial Officers and Community Development Officers)
To provide technical and operational support to the psychosocial team as required.
To prepare and adapt job descriptions according to the needs.
Identification, recruitment, and staff training as required.
EXPERIENCE
A least two years’ psychosocial experience in international humanitarian work.
Experience in managing teams of different cultural background
Experience in coordinating program and operations (logistics) for field staff movements requirements.
Previous experience in similar emergency settings, especially in Africa.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Grade in social sciences, psychologist or mental health specialist
Fluency in English

Great organizational skills and adaptability to rural areas required
Stress management skills.
Leadership and staff management, team working.
Accuracy and work autonomy.

Availability: Inmediately for 3-month project
