Protection Program Manager, Liberia

The Protection Program Manager (PM), Liberia will oversee the Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) program as well as other protection programs, building capacity into both staff as well as the national sector manager of the protection and gender department.
This position will be based in Monrovia, Liberia and will be expected to travel to the various field sites to manage programs. The employee must be willing to live in shared team housing. For technical assistance, the Protection PM will seek advice, as needed, from Technical Advisors, Country Director (CD), Deputy Country Director (DCD), Finance Manager and all relevant Program Managers and the Program Development Unit (PDU). The individual should have experience in administration, networking and managing, as well as an understanding of development models for social protection and the Child Status Index (CSI). The Protection Program Manager will oversee the distribution of school fees for over 3,000 children in the OVC program while developing an approach to provide holistic care to OVC while monitoring it through the CSI.
In addition to managing all project activities and staff, the employee will be preparing and submitting reports, ensuring budget compliance and networking with government agencies, Donors and other NGOs in the protection field. The manager is also responsible for staying up-to-date with current child protection practices/policies and opportunities through networking and attending appropriate sectoral and government meetings.
This position is pending funding approval.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Advanced degree in a related field or 3-5 years related experience and training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of college-level Biblical studies strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in international relief and development with previous experience working/living overseas.
  • Proven understanding of protection needs in a developing country, context preferred.
  • Program Management experience, recent experience in a resource poor setting.
  • Experience in working with international donor agencies.
  • Experience in child protection, specifically in OVC.
  • Willingness to meet with leaders of other organizations to discuss problem solving related to protection issues that arise in communities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to multitask, detail-oriented, adaptable and consistent, excellent planning and writing skills.
12 month contract with the potential for renewal.
This position is able to accommodate a spouse, but minor children are not able to accompany.
