Program Development Innovator

Youth Challenge International (YCI) is recruiting a Youth Innovator for a program development capacity building project in Accra, Ghana, the Youth Innovator will provide technical expertise in program design and development, and fundraising strategy to YMCA.

Youth Challenge International (YCI) is recruiting a Youth Innovator for a program development capacity building project in Accra, Ghana. 
This exciting opportunity will include a pre-project distance-learning program, followed by an intensive eight-week placement in Accra. While in country, the Youth Innovator will provide technical expertise in program design and development, and fundraising strategy to YMCA and to Enactus Ghana.
Partner Organization Information: 
The YMCA of Ghana was founded in 1890. Its mission is to bring positive change to the lives of young people and to guide them to being useful and productive citizens. The YMCA of Ghana is headquartered in Accra and operates in 77 communities in eight of the ten Administrative Regions in Ghana. YCI has partnered with the YMCA of Ghana since 2006, training Ghanaian youth as HIV/AIDS Peer Educators and reaching local youth through HIV/AIDS and employability training activities. 
Enactus is a non-profit organization that brings together student, academic and business leaders who are committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living for people in need. Guided by academic advisors and business experts, the student leaders of Enactus create and implement community empowerment projects. The experience not only transforms lives, it also helps students develop the kind of talent and perspective that are essential to leadership in an ever-more complicated and challenging world. Enactus Ghana currently has student teams on the campuses of over 20 tertiary institutions throughout the country. 
Key Project Activities: 
YMCA 
• Undertake research on successful local youth organizations globally; document their strategic approaches, such as unique selling points, niche, etc. 
• Collaborate with the Ghana YMCA leadership to develop a program strategy that positions YMCA as an attractive youth development organization to both local young people and in-country donors 
• Provide training to YMCA staff on implementation and fundraising for the new strategy 
Enactus 
• Work with the Country Leader to develop a long-term fundraising strategy for the organization 
• Provide training on project design and fundraising to Enactus team leaders to improve their capacity to produce innovative projects
Recommended Skills and Experience: 
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in program development 
. 1-3 years of relevant experience in fundraising and/or program design and development 
. Experience in organizational development 
. Experience working with grassroots organizations 
Excellent communication skills 
. Strong planning and organizational skills 
Strong inter-cultural communication skills 
. Prior overseas experience   
Fundraising Goal: 
YCI volunteers are required to fundraise and/or contribute a minimum of $600 for these projects to contribute towards YCI’s global youth development programs.

Participants will be expected obtain the required vaccinations and take anti-malarials at their own expense
