At the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), we believe that every child deserves to survive and thrive. We are an independent philanthropic organisation aiming to demonstrably improve the lives of children in developing countries by achieving large-scale, sustainable impact. Based in London, with offices in Nairobi and New Delhi, we focus our work on programmes in the areas of Health, Nutrition, Educational Attainment, and Climate.
We are now looking for an ambitious Director to join our growing Health team. The successful candidate will lead on a high quality portfolio of investment proposals and active programmes that deliver CIFF priorities in the Health Sector and meet CIFF’s strategic objective of transformational change for children in developing countries. Current areas of strategic focus for the Health Team include Perinatal Survival, Adolescent Reproductive Health, and the Elimination of Paediatric HIV/AIDs.
Reporting into the Executive Director for Health, in this critical role, you will have the opportunity to identify, drive and nurture innovative strategies in support of CIFF’s work across the Health Sector. You will be part of challenging, dynamic and supportive organisation in a role that calls on wide range of skills; strategic planning and programme development, delivery and performance as well as Health sector knowledge, stakeholder and partner management and team leadership.
The role
  • Co-lead on the development and implementation of cutting edge and evidence-based health strategies and investments.
  • Mentor and manage a team of high performing Managers and Analysts.
  • Develop and design investments for board approval and oversee the management of their implementation for maximum impact.
  • Engage and collaborate with governments and a wide range of global health partners to deliver transformational change aligned with CIFF’s Health Strategy, and act as a key contact point for strategic health sector partners.
The candidate
  • Educated to at least Masters level in Public Health or equivalent.
  • Recognised as a subject-matter expert (as evidenced via publications and/or previous programme delivery) in one of CIFF’s priority areas for its health portfolio, namely Reproductive Health, Child and Maternal Health; HIV
  • Demonstrable expertise in the design, delivery and evaluation, of global health programmes at scale, with extensive experience in Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • Display an extensive track record of building and maintaining a strategic relationships and effective Health sector partnerships.
  • Ability to bring analytical rigour, critical thinking and a detailed understanding of data and evidence to inform Health team strategy, program design and investment management.
  • Highly developed people leadership skills and proven ability to motivate and develop high performance teams.
