The Desert Research Foundation of Namibia (DRFN) is a Non Governmental Organisation founded in 1990 with a vision of a Namibia where people manage the environment for sustainable livelihoods.
The DRFN strives to enhance capacity for sustainable development on all levels of society, working collaboratively in all sectors involved in management and use of natural resources, concentrating on lands and livelihoods, energy and water sectors with government, commercial, non-governmental and community-based organisations.
The DRFN carries out its mission at a number of levels: involving communities in participatory learning to develop sustainable management practices; by engaging managers and policy-makers in dialogue to improve the policy and regulatory framework for sustainable development; by building a body of knowledge to improve the understanding of arid and semi-arid lands and by building the capacity and commitment to manage natural resources sustainably.
The DRFN is a co-partner, together with the Ministry of Environment and Tourism, in running the Gobabeb Training and Research Centre.
The DRFN is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position of:
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Executive Director will be responsible for leading the organisation in achieving its goals related to the activities listed above. The Excecutive Director will report to the Board of Trustees and a Management Committee. A detailed role profile can be obtained from www.drfn.org.na
Applicants shall have a strong track record of senior management, financial and administrative skills. Proven experience of fundraising within donor environments shall be a prerequisite.
A relevant post graduate qualification with verifiable national and international publications within a relevant field are necessary requirements, preferably at PhD level.
