Overview of the Program:
AWID’s Young Feminist Activism (YFA) Program contributes to stronger multigenerational movements that are
diverse and inclusive and to ensuring young feminists’ contributions, activism, perspectives and needs are
integral to women’s rights organizing; accurately reflected in international decision-making spaces and
development debates; and translated into policies and programs that are grounded in human rights and
gender equality.

Overview of the Position:
The YFA Program Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for:
Contributing to the programmatic outputs of the program
Coordinating specific projects within the YFA work plan
Providing content and logistical support for program events and meetings
Strengthening existing, and building new alliances with young feminist activists across regions, sectors and
movements
Actively participating in team- and organization- learning and development processes

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research Design and Implementation
Works with the YFA Manager to identify and design research priorities for the program
Develops and implements research plan related to YFA research priorities, including but not limited to:
– Survey development, dissemination and analysis
– Conducting literature reviews, identifying and analyzing key documents
– Identifying relevant stakeholders for interviews, designing, conducting and analyzing interviews
– Coordinates research team, including AWID staff and external consultants, and external
stakeholder input as appropriate
Works with the YFA Manager to identify and design research priorities for the program

Knowledge building
Identify priority issues for knowledge building relevant to young feminist organizing and to the YFA’s overall
strategy Contribute to the conceptualization, planning and implementation of knowledge building projects on
multigenerational and young feminist organizing
Contribute to the production of knowledge resources produced by the initiative

Capacity-development (internal and external)
Liaise with staff of other AWID programs to support integration of young feminist activists, contributions
and perspectives across the organization as well as to identify opportunities for collaboration
Coordinate the development, facilitation and implementation of learning processes (both online and face
to face processes) for and by young feminists
Assist with developing and implementing follow-up activities, as appropriate, to capacity-building processes
Liaise with staff of other AWID programs to support integration of young feminist activists, contributions
and perspectives across the organization as well as to identify opportunities for collaboration

to face processes) for and by young feminists
Assist with developing and implementing follow-up activities, as appropriate, to capacity-building processes
Alliance-building, constituency engagement and advocacy
Work with other AWID programs and collaborate with young feminist activists to advocate for the active
engagement of young feminists in policy making spaces affecting the rights of young women
Identify relevant organizations, activists, networks and other resources through which to establish strategic
partnerships in order to support young feminist activists with policy advocacy
Assist the YFA Manager with maintaining communications with YFA constituencies, including past
participants in program activities, organizational partners, and AWID’s membership
Work with other AWID programs and collaborate with young feminist activists to advocate for the active
engagement of young feminists in policy making spaces affecting the rights of young women
Identify relevant organizations, activists, networks and other resources through which to establish strategic
partnerships in order to support young feminist activists with policy advocacy
Assist the YFA Manager with maintaining communications with YFA constituencies, including past

Follows program’s monitoring & evaluation plan to track and record relevant evaluation data
Participates actively in organizational meeting venues (office and staff meetings) and committees
Participates and contributes to YFA team coordination and planning meetings

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Experience:
Three or more years of activism with young feminist organizations/initiatives working for women’s rights
and gender justice in the Global South or Central/Eastern Europe
Young feminist mobilizing and policy advocacy at the international and regional levels
Planning, implementing and coordinating of projects or initiatives led by or for young feminists
Developing and implementing capacity building and mobilization activities to strengthen young women’s
organizing both online and face-to-face
Three or more years of activism with young feminist organizations/initiatives working for women’s rights
and gender justice in the Global South or Central/Eastern Europe
Young feminist mobilizing and policy advocacy at the international and regional levels
Planning, implementing and coordinating of projects or initiatives led by or for young feminists
Developing and implementing capacity building and mobilization activities to strengthen young women’s

Required Qualifications and Knowledge:
University degree or related experience in Gender and Development, Women’s Human Rights,
International Development, Women’s Studies or a related Social Science field
Knowledgeable about current trends in young feminist activism in regional and/or global contexts as well as
familiarity with empowerment strategies developed for and by young feminists
Knowledgeable about women’s human rights and/or gender and development policies at the regional
and/or international level
Knowledgeable about challenges and best practices for effective multigenerational organizing
Expertise & Skills:
Excellent relationship building and interpersonal skills to build strong alliances with diverse constituencies
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English as well as French and/or Spanish
Demonstrated capacity to plan effectively and coordinate projects with multiple deliverables and
deadlines
Excellent analytical and diagnostic information gathering abilities (specifically regarding analysis of
information across a range of disciplines and ability to extract relevant information/themes or solve
problems)
Displays good judgment, sensitivity and attention to communication
Strong time management, detail orientation and thoroughness of work
Stress Management; ability to manage role demands
