PROJECT ENGINEER

Technical Assessments
 To identify construction/rehabilitation needs for WASH infrastructure in project areas in collaboration with the stakeholders and in line with the projects plans;
 To carry out preliminary and detailed feasibility assessments and determine the suitable technological option for infrastructure, water or sanitation structure rehabilitation/construction;
 To assess the socio and economic viability for water sources and livelihood infrastructure to be developed/rehabilitated;
 To assess the environmental impacts related to the planned WASH infrastructure rehabilitation interventions and provide recommendations as necessary;
 To assess the management capacities within the local stakeholders for various water sources;
 To assess the water quality and undertake treatment for different water sources and document;
Preparation of designs/technical drawings, lay-out plans, specifications and BoQs
 To prepare designs / technical drawings and specifications for infrastructure works targeted for construction/rehabilitation;
 To prepare lay-out plans for WASH infrastructures in the target locations;
 To prepare bill of quantities and budget estimate for each structure;
Procurement of works, supplies and Service
 Support the Project Manager in preparation of cost estimate request documents as per COOPI procurement procedures and procure for works, supplies and services as necessary;
 Participate in the procedures related to procurement of works, supplies and services;
Supervision of works
 To supervise the project on going realizations at the sites according to the implementation contracts with contractors and communities; Supervision is done in collaboration with authorities and target groups;
 To follow up works progress and ensure that technical designs and specifications are adhered to by the contractors / artisans/foremen;
 Certify works that have been completed satisfactorily and in accordance to technical designs and specifications and authorize the issue of interim and completion certificates for payments as necessary.
Technical training
 Carry out capacity building in management, operation and maintenance of WASH infrastructure developed in the target locations. The target groups include village water committees, water supply operators, Community hygiene promoter, and contractor involved in works etc. Capacity building is provided through formal workshops, and also on-the-job;
Reporting
 To prepare works progress reports as per field missions carried out;
 To prepare supervision reports;
 To compile a monthly construction reports detailing progress of construction of livelihood infrastructure, water and sanitation facilities;
 To prepare training reports for all technical trainings carried out.
