About Plan International Ireland

Plan International is a child-centred NGO working in 51 developing countries. With an emphasis on long term sustainable development and emergency response, Plan International assists children and their communities across a range of programmes in areas such as education, child protection, water and sanitation.
Established in 2003, Plan International Ireland is a dynamic organisation that supports Plan International’s work worldwide. Plan International Ireland has over 8,000 regular givers who support our work primarily through Child Sponsorship. In addition, funding is currently received from a variety of sources primarily the public through various fundraising initiatives, Irish Aid, the EU, corporates, trade unions and trusts and foundations.
In addition to its work overseas, Plan International Ireland strives to raise awareness of development issues in Ireland through media relations, key events, advocacy and development education.

The Role

Plan International Ireland is looking for a dynamic individual who is interested in child rights and international development. You will support our business development, looking to identify new grant opportunities, support proposal development and ensure strong tracking of our grant portfolio.
You will have excellent written skills in order to support the development of high-quality project proposals and reports. The role will primarily support our development programmes.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare strong communications on our grants or projects for use by our business development team
  • Track grants and liaise with our Marketing team on appropriate reporting and proposal development
  • Carry out research on donor trends to inform Programme and strategy development.
  • Regularly update our donor mapping to match our Programme priorities with donors (by sector and geography) and corporate opportunities

Communications

  • Support the Programme team to submit donor proposals and reports in a timely and effective manner, ensuring that they are of acceptable quality and compliant with donor requirements.
  • Link with Communications and Fundraising units to ensure strong flow of relevant and high quality information about our programme work.

Other

  • Update and maintain our Programme Information Tracking system as well as provide general administrative support to the Development unit.

Essential Attributes

  • Masters degree in a related discipline: development studies, development economics, humanitarian aid etc.
  • Excellent command of English and strong report writing, communication and administration skills
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out independent quantitative, evidence based research
  • Experience of website content management including updating, editing and uploading content to websites, online forums, etc.
  • Experience in collating information for databases/websites/reports, research, editing, etc.
