OI Gender Justice Coordinator

The Oxfam Confederation is made up of 17 Oxfam affiliates (including Oxfam GB) working across 92 countries. In 2009, all Oxfam affiliates decided to work more closely together as a global movement for change. Oxfam GB has been working in South Sudan since 1983. We aim to overcome poverty and inequality through the most effective, appropriate and enduring solutions. Oxfam’s institutional mandate is therefore threefold; development work, emergency humanitarian relief work and policy advocacy work. Oxfam South Sudan is currently implementing humanitarian response and development programmes in different parts of the country.
In support of these programmes, Oxfam is seeking to recruit an OI Gender Justice Coordinator to provide leadership in the implementation and further development of the Oxfam joint Gender Justice programme in South Sudan.
The Role
The Gender Justice Coordinator will have the overall responsibility development of the Oxfam South Sudan Gender Justice programming framework, including policy development and planning. You will provide ongoing monitoring and support to Gender Justice programming activities. You will also ensure that key national Government and non Government partners are aware of, and understand the Oxfam South Sudan Gender Justice strategy and create and promote linkages between the Gender Justice Programme and partners with regional and international Gender Justice efforts. You will also have responsibility to coordinate with other change goal managers around Gender Justice Issues, including identification of staff and partner capacity building needs, supporting the establishment of linkages and learning forums and networks. Chair the programme’s Gender Justice Working Group, and take on the role of Gender Justice Representative in senior management meetings. You will assist in the identification of funding opportunities and develop funding proposals. Additionally you will keep up-to-date and share developments in Gender Justice related issues and making recommendations to Programme management on opportunities for influencing; Prepare and coordinate the production of Gender Justice related advocacy articles for different Government and key stakeholders. You will also be expected to provide technical advice and guidance to work of the Gender Justice staff members or focal person in field location – and work closely with the Programme Quality Coordinator in improving program quality from the gender perspective.
What we are looking for
To be successful in this role, you will have a university degree in social science/ Gender studies/ International studies OR in any other relevant field. You will have experience in programme management, including the management of Gender Justice programs. You will also have an in depth understanding of community, regional and global development issues and their inter-relationships. In additional to strong written and reporting skills, you should have the ability to analyse and communicate complex information to a wider audience. A successful candidate will also be results oriented and proactive. Preferably, Knowledge of government and donor development agenda’s and priorities in South Sudan in relation to Gender Justice will be useful in this role coupled with professional networks with South Sudan Gender Justice networks.
