This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of a world class rail network. HS2 will bring the UK’s Victorian railway infrastructure dramatically into the 21st century. HS2 Ltd is the company responsible for developing and promoting the UK’s new high speed rail network.
Our Commercial Analysis team are working to ensure that decisions about the design, operation and regulation of HS2 are driven by sound commercial analyses. As a Commercial Operations – Senior Analyst you will be responsible for ensuring that the analysis applied to decisions about infrastructure, rolling stock, stations and systems are informed by a robust assessment of their impact on the commercial position of HS2 and the wider rail network.
In this role you will:
- Create an environment and ways of working which enable responsive and timely financial (including revenue) modelling accompanied by a high degree of quality assurance.
- Promote the use of the Revenue Modelling Framework (RMF) and Financial Modelling Framework (FMF) to inform infrastructure, rolling stock, stations and systems optioneering and value engineering assessments.
- Support the HS2 Operations Directorate, using modelling, analysis and evidence to inform thinking on who HS2 is for and what HS2 services may look like in 2026 and thereafter.
- Inform key policy and regulatory decisions that will enable HS2 to deliver a world class customer experience and maximize the benefit to the wider GB rail network.
- Foster relationships with senior clients in HS2 Ltd and DfT so as to understand their current and future requirements and become a trusted advisor.
You’ll bring the following qualities to the fore in this position:
Highly numerate with strong analytical and financial skills. Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or degree in relevant subject (Mathematics, Accounting, Economics, Finance or Statistics).
- Experience of financial and/or revenue modelling gained in the railway industry or other regulated utility to drive commercial decisions.
- Experience of prioritising and delivering analysis on time and to an appropriately quality assured standard. This may include application of change management, version control, and verification and validation activities to provide high quality analysis.
- Ability to train other users to perform analysis using the RMF and FMF tools through effective planning and communication.
- Experience of managing the workload and deliverables of other analysts and consultants
