About
Possible is a nonprofit healthcare company that delivers high-quality, low-cost healthcare to the world’s poor. We are pioneering a new approach, called durable healthcare, that brings together the best of private, public, and philanthropic models. Today, our team delivers healthcare at a hospital, network of clinics, and via community health workers. Our "durable healthcare" approach enables Possible to directly deliver care within the Nepali government’s infrastructure and receive funding from the government only if we deliver results.
Since 2008, Possible has treated over 300,000 patients in rural Nepal, and the organization has been consistently named one of the world's most effective nonprofits in 2013, 2014, and 2015 by The Life You Can Save. Our current priorities include transforming our clinical and administrative hub, Bayalpata Hospital, into a teaching hospital; scaling our programs throughout our current district; and expanding into a second district to rebuild the healthcare system after the devastating earthquakes of April and May 2015.
Position Overview
The Communications and Development Associate will be based in New York City. Building our community of partners and advocates is essential to our ability to scale our healthcare model throughout Nepal. Our expansion plans are ambitious and accelerating: in the year ahead, we plan to increase coverage in Achham District where we currently work as well as to rebuild the healthcare system in Dolakha District (the most damaged region in the May 2015 earthquakes). These simultaneous expansions will directly increase access to healthcare for two different patient populations -- one chronically underserved, the other suffering in light of a natural disaster -- and yet neither is possible without a concurrent expansion of capacity of our Development and Marketing teams to grow our organization's relationships with global stakeholders and fuel our work.
To achieve these organizational goals, the primary goals of the Communications & Development Associate are to craft communication strategies and rich content to help share our work with a variety of key stakeholders (including but not limited to individual donors, large foundational funders, government partners in Nepal, our US and Nepali boards, public relations contacts, and our broader support/follower pool). The Associates will collaborate closely with our Chief Development Officer, Marketing Director, Creative Director, and Development Manager (all based in New York City) as well as our Communications Manager and Communications Associate (based in Nepal) to meet these targets. The Associates will have at least one opportunity to travel to Nepal to experience our work firsthand.
