Director of Programme Funding
The Director of Programme Funding will be a member of the SMT, responsible for the generation of £1m (£500k net) income per year for the Expedition (income raised by individual volunteers (£2m pa) is overseen by the Director or Recruitment, Delivery & Communications), and working with the Director of Programmes & Policy (who oversees the large contract for delivery of the International Citizen Service programme (£5m pa) and oversees our country programming) to secure £2m funding for new projects and activities.
The fundraising team in London consists of three middle managers who are responsible for specific income streams (trusts/foundations, alumni & individuals, corporate partnerships) and three support staff. The role will operate in a matrix structure with the Head of Countries who is based in head office, and the Country Directors based in each of our field offices, who also have income targets. They will all be accountable to this role for the delivery of those income targets.
Overall responsibilities:
  • lead on identification of institutional donor calls, including prioritisation and mapping
  • develop partnerships with new institutional donors and corporate foundations
  • develop funding approaches (institutions, trusts & foundations, corporate and individual donors, including alumni) to ensure delivery of Raleigh’s Funding Strategy (income and expenditure targets)
  • develop and write effective and compelling proposals at the £500k+ value
  • work closely with Programmes team (including countries) to ensure that proposals respond to the needs of beneficiaries.
