The internship is with The Hague Secretariat of the Coalition for the International Criminal Court (CICC) in The Netherlands.
The Internship The Legal Section of the CICC monitors the International Criminal Court in building a credible functioning justice system and deliver on the promise of a fair, effective and independent Court. The Legal Intern will assist the Senior Legal Officer and Advocacy Fellow, along with other staff as relevant, with legal and advocacy work.
Responsibilities may include:
- Monitoring developments related to the ICC and international justice;
- Monitoring and attending ICC events, and other diplomatic meetings;
- Assist with legal research projects on varied issues related to the ICC;
- Support the Legal Section staff with updating and drafting content for the Coalition’s advocacy work, website, blog and other publications;
- The CICC coordinates the activities of NGOs during the annual session of the Assembly of States Parties (ASP), which will take place from 16 until 24 November 2015 in The Hague, The Netherlands. The Legal Intern will attend ASP sessions and provide support by taking notes and minutes of meetings and preparing documents among other tasks.
Qualifications
- Perfect knowledge of the English language;
- Advanced undergraduate or graduate student working towards a degree in Law, International Relations, or related field; Substantial coursework in International Law or Human Rights is required;
- Previous internships in these fields are highly desirable;
- Knowledge of and interest in the ICC and international law is required;
- Excellent research and writing skills;
- Previous experience with taking notes and minutes of meetings is highly desirable;
- Ability to work independently and within the constraints of tight deadlines;
- Available on a full-time basis for a minimum of three months. We have a preference for an intern who can stay until at least 25 November.

Please note that this is an unpaid internship and the Coalition cannot cover associated transportation or accommodation costs.
