About MAG:
MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.
About the South Sudan programme:
South Sudan is one of the youngest, poorest and least developed countries world-wide. The 2013 outbreak of hostilities has led to thousands of people being killed or wounded, and hundreds of thousands of people being displaced by the violence. MAG has been working in South Sudan since 2004, to clear landmines/unexploded ordnance and deliver mine risk education to at-risk populations.
About the role:
As a senior technical manager, you will be responsible for ensuring quality, safety and efficiency in our operations. You will hold a recognisable EOD qualification and have extensive experience of implementing efficient clearance operations in challenging environments. Working closely with and reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, you will be accountable for delivering a key UNOPS contract in the programme, ensuring contractual compliance and output targets are met.
About you:
You will have excellent people and project management skills with the ability to coordinate, design, manage, improve and report on technical operations. Previous experience of working in a senior technical position within a similar organisation is essential. This is a demanding yet highly rewarding position that will be suited to a highly motivated, solution-focused and flexible manager.
