Role Purpose:
The Project Manager will work under the supervision of the Director Program Operations, providing supervision and direct support to staff involved in the DiRECT Cash Transfer Program in the implementation and program budget management. The Project Manager is a field based role providing key oversight of programme implementation, management and operations in selected districts of Western and Southern province. Training, mentoring and capacity building will form a critical part of this role.
Contract Duration: 9 months
Location: Zambia
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-graduate degree in social/political sciences, arts or in a humanitarian assistance related field
- Demonstrated 4-6 years' experience with humanitarian responses, including participatory assessment methods, in emergency contexts with an international NGO or UN agency.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player who demonstrates leadership and is able to support and train program staffs and also able to work in changeable situation in a sensitive and participatory manner.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build and manage complex and diverse stakeholder relationships and develop harmonious teams in a cross cultural context.
- Ability to operate effectively under extreme circumstances including stress, high security risks and rough living conditions.
- Experience in capacity building.
- Able to manage a high workload and meet tight deadlines
- Good command of English
- Competent IT skills and experience of using email and Internet
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children's aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
