Photographer/Videographer, Nigeria

Chemonics seeks a photographer/videographer for the USAID MARKETS II project in Nigeria. MARKETS II supports the U.S. government’s Feed the Future initiative. It is working to improve the country's complex agricultural sector value chain in order to increase private sector participation and investment, enhance the quality and quantity of selected commodities, raise incomes, increase employment, attain food security, and reduce poverty. The photographer/videographer will shoot photos and videos to illustrate narratives on the project's activities to be used for Chemonics’ YouTube channel, brochures, reports, success stories, and other platforms. The photographer/videographer will also review historical MARKETS II photos to prepare them for publication and distribution in USAID and Chemonics materials.
The assignment is scheduled for up to 45 days in both Nigeria and Washington D.C., but may be divided across multiple trips and personnel, depending upon candidate experience, availability, and the project budget. The assignment will begin in October 2016 and extend through December 2016. There may be a potential for a follow-up assignment in 2017 to capture even more photos and videos within the different agricultural seasons for additional communications products. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
  • Shoot photos and video to showcase the activities and impact of MARKETS II, with particular focus on women, youth, and other vulnerable groups
  • Provide a caption, including photographed activity. location, and name of subject(s) using a caption information form provided by the project team
  • Use minimum 1920 x 1080 resolution for captured footage, with high definition preferred;  footage with NTSC standard of 30 or 24 frames per second preferred
  • Operate and maintain all photography and video equipment
  • Download and catalog photos and video footage daily
  • Work collaboratively with project members
  • Review previous photos captured on the MARKETS II project to curate photos for distribution in project materials
Qualifications:
  • Experience photographing diverse themes and producing a variety of desirable images; experience capturing agricultural related photos and videos preferred 
  • Ability to move quickly and photograph creatively and from different angles
  • Experience operating professional digital photography equipment
  • Knowledge of photo archiving and processing programs
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Cultural sensitivity and diplomacy skills
  • Journalism or communications background desirable
  • English fluency desirable
