Table Mountain Roots Pty (Ltd) http://tablemountainroots.co.za/ was founded in 2011 and registered in 2013. It takes the magnificent view of the homely City of Cape Town, South Africa; as its origin. There are a number of challenges facing the world at present; hunger, economic challenges, disasters, global warming to name the least. We aim to address some of these issues by getting involved, contributing and facilitat real results. In 2011, we contributed enormous to the 'going green' theme. ****Background of this Project****
Table Mountain Roots is building a critical roster for highly specialised humanitarian person who will be placed with different agencies worldwide for preparedness, response and strategic positioning. The recruitment is targeting high profile staff and fast learners(for those without international experience) who will be able to deliver independent of daily supervision, able to understand client's needs, quick pick up the context, think strategically and swing back to operations issues, willing to get hands dirty and understands the purpose of being a humanitarian staff member. Rigorous screening and ref check will be done to ensure the quality of candidates and integrity of Table Mountains Roots Pty (Ltd) is not compromised. Ability to have empathy, ethics and not take advantage of affected population is critical
About the Position
In emergencies decision making, speed, planning, coordination and results is critical. Logistics and procurement is key function in this.
We are looking for ;
1) Some who has responded at least category 2 disaster and above (see UN disaster rating)
2) International experience or 5 years local experience frontline logistics or operations management
3) A Masters degree in operations management, logistics, engineering or business management (Bachelors may be accepted with +5 years humanitarian post qualification experience)
4) Able to do assessments, develop logistics plans fast, procure and deliver supplies no supervision
5) Able to develop a capacity plan, recruit staff, supervise local and other international staff
6) Vast knowledge of tendering, dealing with suppliers, transport management, warehousing and distributions
7) Understand the need to have coordination with programme and country team, clusters and other agencies to support the affected population
8) Capacity to lead the logistics and procurement during response
