These temporary positions are located at United Nations (UN) medical facilities, including those UN Clinics administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Medical Officers report to the Chief Medical Adviser/Senior Medical Adviser, when applicable. In the field, they have a functional reporting relationship to the Medical Director, Medical Service Division, OHRM, and, in those UN Clinics administered by UNDP, to the UNDP Resident Coordinator.

Doctorate (MD) or equivalent degree in medicine. ACLS/BCLS certification and /or certification in tropical and travel medicine is required.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible medical experience. Experience of working in the UN or an International organization especially in conflict areas and adverse living conditions is required. UN field experience is highly desirable; Experience in humanitarian crisis and infectious diseases is highly desirable.
Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
