The United Nation Secretariat maintains rosters of qualified and available candidates to fill anticipated temporary assignments in United Nations (UN) medical facilities in the field, including UN Clinics administered by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The purpose of this job opening is to attract a list of qualified candidates for inclusion in the roster for Medical Officers for immediate deployment on temporary positions in Africa. Although working in countries affected by the Ebola outbreak, or neighbouring regions, these positions are not primarily involved in Ebola Treatment Units. However, each clinic may receive walk-in patients who meet case criteria. Isolation, holding and transfer capability is the intended scope of practice for these posts.

Doctorate (MD) or equivalent degree in medicine. ACLS/BCLS certification and /or certification in tropical and travel medicine is required.
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible medical experience. Experience of working in the UN or an International organization especially in conflict areas and adverse living conditions is required. UN field experience is highly desirable; Experience in humanitarian crisis and infectious diseases is highly desirable.
Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
