Energy Efficiency Expert
The UNEP DTU Partnership (UDP) is seeking a Senior Energy Efficiency Expert for the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency (C2E2).
The UDP has over the last 20 years become a leading international research and advisory centre on energy, climate and sustainable development. We work in close partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). The C2E2 was established, as a new entity under the UDP in September 2013, with the main task to be the Energy Efficiency Hub of the global Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative.
The C2E2 aims to become a recognized global knowledge and information leader on energy efficiency activities and best practices. The C2E2 also provides technical assistance to developing countries and supports private sector engagement in the implementation of energy efficiency activities.
The successful candidate will join an international team of more than 60 professionals in an interdisciplinary work environment located in the new UN City building in the Copenhagen Harbour area in Denmark.

The Energy Efficiency Expert will be expected to participate in C2E2’s activities in some of the following areas:

- Building C2E2 as a global knowledge centre on energy efficiency activities and best practices;
- Supporting public-private partnership engagement in the SE4ALL's Global Energy Efficiency Accelerator Platform;
- Providing technical assistance to countries to support the implementation of energy efficiency policies and programs;
- Facilitating the engagement of the finance sector at global, regional and national levels.

The successful candidate should have a degree in economics, engineering, planning, environmental sciences or other relevant discipline, at a Ph.D. level or equivalent.
Work experience and competencies
Work experience and competencies
The position is targeting senior candidates with more than 10 years of relevant work experience, but junior applicants are welcome to express interest, as we expect to be expanding rapidly. The required competencies include in-depth knowledge and understanding of energy efficiency policies and technologies, and analytical skills and experience in preparing technical and/or policy-relevant reports and papers.
Specific experience in one or more of these areas will be highly desirable:
· Private sector engagement in energy efficiency;
· Project finance, preferably in energy efficiency area;
· Quantitative analysis of energy systems and/or energy efficiency potentials; and
· Capacity building including delivering workshops, webinars, e-learning and other mediums.
Developing country experience is mandatory and in view of current staff skills, we are especially interested in candidates with expertise in Latin American or African regions.
Demonstrated ability to initiate new projects in co-operation with international institutions will be expected.
Languages
The working language at UDP is English, but in addition proficiency in Spanish or French will be an asset.

Terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. Individual supplements will be negotiated along with travel and expatriation allowances. Contracts are offered initially for a two-year term, with possibility of extension.
