Saheli is an organization dedicated to empowering South Asian women and families to lead safe and healthy lives. With over 18 years of experience, Saheli offers a range of pro-bono services geared specifically toward the challenges faced by South Asians and other immigrants in New England.
Saheli provides services in the areas of domestic violence, physical and mental health and safety, legal and immigration issues, career and economic empowerment, and social and cultural volunteer opportunities.
We seek a dedicated, detail-oriented, experienced professional to coordinate its Family Services program. The candidate must be based in Massachusetts with work authorization in the United States.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct services to women and families facing domestic abuse and violence and link them to resources.
- Organize outreach events with the help of Saheli volunteers.
- Supervise volunteers as needed, assist with their orientation and task assignments.
- Provide coverage for Saheli helpline and respond to survivors of domestic abuse within 24 hours with the help of volunteers
- Coordinate case load and supervise six domestic violence advocates, hold regular status calls, provide bi-annual performance evaluations.
- Provide advocates with peer counseling, legal and social services information, translation and interpretation, and other supportive services as may be required for case management plans.
- Review client records weekly for progress updates and ensure accurate and current records of services provided.
- Assist with support groups and outreach events.
- Maintain, upgrade and monitor the DV database with the help of volunteers.
- Research and organize trainings in DV prevention offered by various agencies for Saheli staff and volunteers on an ongoing basis.
- Meet staff and leaders of partner DV agencies and develop collaborative relationships.
- Submit regular data and statistics about DV cases to Saheli Board on a quarterly basis and as needed for grant deliverables. Assist with data compilation tasks.
- Attend outreach events in the South Asian community and promote Saheli locally, regionally and nationally.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in social work, behavioral sciences, other related fields or equivalent. Domestic violence training preferred.
- Two year’s work experience in domestic violence prevention services or related social work fields preferred.
- Must complete 40 hour domestic violence training prior to joining (Saheli can facilitate).
- Work from home in a flexible environment, make your own hours. Be willing to meet with clients some evenings, weekends and holidays. Must attend monthly meetings with the Board in Burlington.
- Strong communication, writing, speaking and interpersonal skills. Highly motivated, mature, organized, self-directed and a team-player.
- Fluent in English, ability to speak a South Asian language especially helpful but not required.
- Computer literate and proficient using email, Microsoft Office, and other desktop applications.
