An in-depth knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, messaging and network technologies and concepts and a good understanding of virtualisation (VMware & Hyper-V), security, data protection, cloud and mobile technology, and thin client are all crucial to this new role as third-line support to the IT team giving support to both front and back office functions.
Overseeing IT operations, your remit is extensive. Your responsibilities cover service delivery, application, network and telephony infrastructure, leading the service-desk team; acting as the escalation point; helping to establish standards and best practices; implementing policies and standards to improve IT quality and effectiveness; developing a resilient infrastructure plan; implementing upgrades; manage testing; and s service reviews.
Your degree in IT or related area will have been followed by ITIL service delivery manager qualifications, PRINCE2 foundation and relevant MCSE and Security certifications. With at least four years’ experience of management, including service delivery, you must have a thorough understanding of server and desktop hardware and operating systems, networks, firewalls and load balancers, telecommunications and so on. Probing and analytical, you are adept at prioritising and working with 3rd-party providers with an ability to thrive in a new role and drive results in an ever evolving environment.
