Socio-economist Ebola Outbreak

Duty Stations: Freetown, Sierra Leone / Monrovia, Liberia / Conakry, Guinea / Dakar, Senegal (according to needs)
In the framework of the FAO response to the epidemic of Ebola viral disease (EVD) in West Africa, under the administrative supervision of the FAO Representative in the country, in collaboration with the FAO Regional Office in Accra and the Regional Hub for Resilience, Emergencies and Rehabilitation in West Africa / Sahel in Dakar (REOWA), the international consultant will:
· Collects and analyses relevant technical, social, economic, environmental, and institutional related information, data and/or statistics to support the delivery of programme projects, products and services
· Development and implementation of surveys and studies which will facilitate the integration and mainstreaming of the social and economic impact of EVD outbreak;
· Provides technical input for plans and reports and edits/revises technical/scientific documents, including food security and value chains assessment reports.
· Ensure the involvement of the Government at every steps of the studies
· Participates in the development of improved work methods, tools and systems
· Participates on multi-disciplinary project/work teams
· Collaborates in the development of training tools and materials and the organization of workshops/seminars etc.
· Participates in the organization, conduct and follow-up of meetings, consultations and conferences, the development/production of required materials and the provision of information and assistance to partners;
· Expanding the FAO existing project partnership through developing links to NGO partners, private sector, academic institutions, UN Agencies and other development partners;
· Support the design and implementation of quality control processes aligned with FAO established guidelines, procedures, and structures for communication;
Minimum Requirements
· Advanced University degree in Economics or related subject;
· Three to five years of relevant experience economic and social impact assessment;
· Fluent in English or French and working knowledge of the other language;
· Extent of experience in the development, implementation and monitoring of work plans in complex partnership projects;
· Extent of experience on development and implementation of communications and visibility materials.
Other competencies
· Proficiency in computer skills and current use of the Internet
· Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and multicultural environment;
· Women are encouraged to apply; Experience within FAO is an asset.
