In 2014, the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) launched the global initiative „One World without Hunger”. The global programme „Green Innovation Centres for the Agriculture and Food Sector“ forms part of the initiative, aiming at improving smallholder farmer income, creating employment opportunities and enhancing food security. This will be achieved through up-scaling of technical, social, economic and institutional innovations along selected value chains. International and national private sector companies and civil society will play important roles in project implementation. Ethiopia has been identified for the country module “Innovations for Agricultural Productivity in Arsi” (IFAP – Arsi).The IFAP- Arsi project shall add significantly to achieve the objective of the global program .
The IFAP-Arsi project contributes to the enhancement of productivity in the agricultural sector through promotion of the value chains Wheat and Faba beans by up-scaling of innovations and best practices within five innovation clusters: (1) Good agricultural practice; (2) Agricultural inputs; (3) Mechanization and technology; (4) Limited and targeted investments in value chains; (5) Farmers’ / value chain actors’ organizations.

Qualifications Required Only the experts meeting the set criteria will be shortlisted and contacted.
• University degree (minimum level: Master of Science or equivalent) in agriculture, agricultural economics, economics, business administration or relevant related discipline;
• Excellent command of English; knowledge of German is an asset;
• Capacity WORKS practitioner would an asset

Professional Experience Required
At least 10 years experience in:
• Value chain and private sector / agribusiness development;
• Improving framework conditions for value chain development and cooperating with public institutions;
• Participatory approaches/ inclusion and special promotion of women and youth in value chains;
• Agricultural extension/advisory services and/or vocational training.
• Extensive professional experience in dissemination of innovations in the agricultural and food sector
• Profound knowledge of the international agricultural and food sector;•
• At least 5 years management experience in complex projects (including team leadership);
• Extensive working experience in the agricultural sector in the Africa region;
• Good knowledge of German development cooperation instruments and methods
• Crucial skills: exceptional communicator and networker; conceptual and strategic thinking
