ABA ROLI is a non-profit program that implements legal reform programs in over 60 countries around the world. ABA ROLI has an annual budget of over $40 million andnearly 700 professional staff working abroad and in its Washington, D.C. office. ABA ROLI’s host country partners include judges, lawyers, bar associations, law schools, court administrators, legislatures, ministries of justice and a wide array of civil society organizations.
JOB SUMMARY
The American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) seeks a short-term Clinical Legal Education Expert (CLEE), who will provide technical assistance regarding the implementation of clinical legal education programs at university law faculties in Egypt. This will be a 2-3 month assignment based in Cairo, Egypt. The CLEE expert will work directly with the Country Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support university law faculty in developing clinical legal education programs;
- Assist with development of administrative procedures and policies curriculum, teaching modules and syllabi, organize trainings for clinic faculty;
- Assist universities to develop policies and processes for provision of legal clinics;
- Develop linkages between university clinics and the greater legal community; and
- Develop internship and externship programs for clinic students.
QUALIFICATIONS
- JD or foreign equivalent and 7 years of relevant experience in establishing and operating legal clinics;
- Experience teaching in law school or in a clinical legal education program required, as well as at least 3-5 years practical experience in participatory teaching methodologies, curriculum, and course development; and
- Experience in international development.
