Org. Setting and Reporting
The internship positions are located in the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York. The internship is for two (2) months from 6 July 2015 to 28 August 2015, with a possibility of extension, subject to the needs of the Department. The internship is UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of the Chief of the Translation Section/Service or the internship supervisor, as appropriate. Candidates are encouraged to highlight their specific skills and/or experience in their application. They are asked to do so carefully in order to enhance the value of the internship for both themselves and the receiving Section/Service.

Education
Candidates must be studying for a Masters or PhD (or equivalent) or have completed one of these programmes within the last 12 months.

Work Experience
Professional experience is not required, but would be considered an asset.

Languages
Complete mastery of the language of the Section/Service in which the internship will be spent (this is usually the candidates’ mother tongue or main language of instruction and is the one they will translate into) and a good knowledge of at least two other official languages as passive languages (even though in exceptional cases one passive language may be acceptable, particularly in conjunction with expertise in relevant subject areas). The official languages of the United Nations are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
