Head of Programmes – Mali

Contract: One Year Fixed Term

Salary: £26,112 per annum + Additional Benefits
Location: Bamako, Mali
We are currently recruiting a Head of Programmes who will frequently travel to field offices across the country. The candidate will report to the Country Director, and will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and expertise to the programmes. The post holder will provide timely and high quality proposals and reports to donors, as well as ensuring the development and utilisation of best practice. The Head of Programmes will also build relationships with donors, other INGOs, government authorities and local NGOs. S/he will manage a team of Programme Managers and Technical staff.
The Head of Programmes will make key decisions in relation to programme implementation and offer solutions to problems that arise during implementation. The post holder will ensure that the programmes meet Islamic Relief Worldwide Quality Standards and international Codes of Conduct. S/he will assist the programme team to develop, finalise and closely monitor the programme budget.
The successful candidate must have substantial experience of working with INGOs in developing countries, with a background of successful fundraising and dealing with EC, ECHO, UN SIDA and DFID, plus an in-depth understanding of community development. A degree qualification in Management/Social Science/International Development/Public Administration or proven experience is essential. Familiarity with the Millennium Development Goals, Sphere Standards and Codes of Conduct would be an advantage. Fluency in oral and written English is essential, and a working knowledge of French is also strongly desirable.
