| Description of Duties Main Purpose Reporting to the Better Work Chief, to provide strategic and technical leadership to staff in HQ and the regions in order to deliver Better Work's communications, knowledge management, and partnership objectives, including relationships with global donors and retailers. The incumbent contributes to the leadership and strategic development of the Better Work Programme as a member of the programme's senior management team. Responsibilities To lead Better Work Global Communications and Partnerships - Within the overall strategic direction of the BW programme provide, managerial and technical leadership to colleagues in the team who are responsible for implementing all internal and external communications activities including knowledge management systems, websites, branding and messaging, and global communications materials. - Responsible for oversight of strategies to maximise the benefits of global partnerships with existing and new donors and international garment buyers. Includes development and implementation of a strategic vision for engagement with both buyers and donors and managing team members to ensure effective responsiveness to buyer and donor requests. - Lead discussions with other relevant organizations in the field regarding potential partnerships or collaboration opportunities such as labour rights NGOs, alliances of global brands or mulit-stakeholder initiatives that work on relevant CSR issues. Liaise with Chief and other SMT colleagues to finalize and implement any agreed activities to collaborate with such organisations. - Lead responsibility for the development of Better Work Global strategies in the areas of communications including knowledge management, branding and messaging on websites, publications, new and other media as well as engagement strategies with key global stakeholders including development and maintenance of donor and buyer partnerships. - In liaison with the Chief and other SMT colleagues, responsible for ensuring that Better Work's bi-annual governance meetings with donors, the Better Work Advisory Committee and the Management Group are planned and organized effectively. - Responsible for ensuring the effective design and implementation of work plans and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the activities under incumbent's direct supervision which includes public communications, engagement and partnership with global garment companies, internal communications and knowledge management and day to day management of the global programme governance meetings. Establish performance objectives for all staff in the Communications and Partnerships team and monitoring their achievement. - Overall responsibility for the efficient management and effective oversight of budgets for all activities in the Communications and Partnerships team. To contribute to the leadership of Better Work and ensure effective communication and coordination - As a member of the Senior Management Team of Better Work Global, actively contribute to the development and implementation of the Better Work programme, including effectively working with other BW teams and country programs and proposing and developing strategies and agreements to ensure effective cooperation with other ILO and IFC Programmes in order to maximize impacts. - In liaison with the Chief and other SMT colleagues, responsible for ensuring that Better Work's bi-annual Operational Management Team meetings that bring together the leadership of all Better Work Programmes are planned and organized effectively. - Ensure excellent communication and necessary consultation between the Communications and Partnerships team and other staff in BW Global and Country Programmes and ILO/IFC in the development and delivery of communications and partnership objectives. - Provide high-level policy advice to ILO's constituents on BW practice and procedures with a particular focus on supply chain management and technical proficiencies of the unit. - Represent Better Work at donors' meetings, buyers' fora and at international, regional and national fora. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Education Advanced university degree with demonstrated experience in international development, social sciences or other relevant field. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Experience At least 10 years professional experience in the management and implementation of programmes in relevant fields including Corporate Social Responsibly, capacity building programmes in developing countries, and five years of experience working at an international level in areas including communications, partnership development and resource mobilisation. Experience of working directly with businesses is essential and within the garment sector highly desirable. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
