Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for West and Central Africa, Senegal (ROSEN), with duty station in Bissau/Guinea Bissau. The incumbent will report to the UNODC Representative, ROSEN, and work under the overall guidance and supervision of the Regional Programme Coordinator for the West Africa Coast Initiative (WACI). The incumbent will be responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project aimed at assisting the implementation of the West Africa Coast Initiative (WACI) in Guinea Bissau, in collaboration with national authorities and UNODC’s partners under the WACI, which are the United Nations Office for West Africa in the Department of Political Affairs (UNOWA/DPA), the UN Missions, the UN Department for Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) and INTERPOL. The incumbent will function as a repository and focal point for all drug control and crime prevention related information in the country.

Education
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in the fields of criminology, law, public administration or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant progressively responsible work experience in an operational capacity in national and/or international law enforcement, investigation, police, drug and/or crime prevention and control is required, out of which several years in the field of drug law enforcement and organized crime. Project/programme planning and management experience in relevant field at the national or international level is required. Team-leading experience is highly desirable. Experience in a UN field office in a developing country, preferably in West Africa, is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised fluency in English and Portuguese, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
