Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the World Bank Group (WBG) to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty by 2030 and boosting shared prosperity in a sustainable manner by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 130 client countries. ITS services range from: establishing the infrastructure to reach and connect staff and development stakeholders; providing the devices and agile technology and information applications to facilitate the science of delivery through decentralized services; creating and maintaining tools to integrate information across the World Bank Group, the clients we serve and the countries where we operate; and delivering the computing power staff need to analyze development challenges and identify solutions. The ITS business model combines dedicated business solutions centers that provide services tailored to specific World Bank Group business needs and shared services that provide infrastructure, applications and platforms for the entire Group. ITS is one of three VPUs that have been brought together as the World Bank Group Integrated Services (WBGIS), to provide enhanced corporate core services and enable the institution to operate as one strategic and coordinated entity.
Duties and Accountabilities:
Expert IT professional, advising top management on ICAM policies and strategies, and implementing technical directions for the future of ICAM management. Ensures professional development of a cadre of professionals across various IT disciplines.
• Leads feasibility analysis for new systems/applications, including understanding implications for the current and future architecture.
• Develops a long term plan (3-5 years) for applications and systems in the area(s) supported, factoring in an understanding of future directions of the business area as well as changes in the technology landscape.
• Ensures that all development and business solutions activities for the assigned area(s) are aligned with overall WBG strategy those within the organization and future IT application and business architecture.
• Serves as an expert technical advisor on projects that involve multiple technologies, great operational or implementation risks, complex business functionality, and broad implications for the business and/or the IT architecture.
• Provides leadership and expert technical guidance on the most complex coding/ development, configuration and implementation efforts, enhancing the expertise of ITS colleagues.
• Manages allocated resources (including financial, human resources and technology). Determines staff levels.
• Plans and oversees the resources required to provide support for enterprise-wide and function specific programs. Promotes professional development in their area(s) of expertise, ensuring there is a team of professionals necessary to advance the goals of the organization.
• Responsible for development and career management of team members.
• Ensures the development of future technical talent across all of ITS.
• Participates in enterprise strategic planning as business and technology advisor in order to decide upon major capital investment and long-term budgetary expenditures.
Desred Skills and Experience
Minimum Education/Experience:
Master's degree with 10 years relevant experience or Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 12 years relevant experience.
