Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) enables the WBG to achieve its mission of ending extreme poverty by 2030 and boosting shared prosperity in a sustainable manner by delivering transformative information and technologies to its staff working in over 130 client countries. ITS services range from: establishing the infrastructure to reach and connect staff and development stakeholders; providing the devices and agile technology and information applications to facilitate the science of delivery through decentralized services; creating and maintaining tools to integrate information across the World Bank Group, the clients we serve and the countries where we operate; and delivering the computing power staff need to analyze development challenges and identify solutions. The ITS business model combines dedicated business solutions centers that provide services tailored to specific World Bank Group business needs and shared services that provide infrastructure, applications and platforms for the entire Group. ITS is one of three VPUs that have been brought together as the World Bank Group Integrated Services (WBGIS), to provide enhanced corporate core services and enable the institution to operate as one strategic and coordinated entity.
The World Bank Group ITS Enterprise Architecture is comprised of three departments: ITS Governance (ITSGP), ITS Architecture Practice (ITSAP) and ITS Strategy and AIP (ITSSA) which report to the WBG Chief Enterprise Architect. These ITSEA departments provide the following six functions: Technology Strategy, Governance, Architecture Practice, User Experience Management (UXM), Knowledge, and Operations & Planning.
Duties and Accountabilities:
Expert IT professional possessing mastery across multiple architectural domains, addressing end to end solutions and identifying opportunities to shape the future of the business through technology. Typically has in-depth experience in working across multiple business lines from an architectural perspective.
- Participates in business planning, providing insights on the future of technology that can shape the business.
- Plays a leadership role in strategic technology planning for the enterprise.
- Ensures the consistent application of IT architecture principles and adherence to the enterprise reference architecture.
- Defines IT standards and regularly assess the IT landscape and emerging/maturing technologies for impact on current systems and opportunities to enhance IT architecture and utilize reusable and/or repeatable technical and business solutions
- Ensures that recommendations provided relative to solutions are aligned with future architectural directions of the enterprise.
- Aligns the architectural team to a unified view of the business, ensuring that all elements of the future state architecture are harmonized.
- Manages allocated resources (including financial, human resources and technology). Determines staff levels.
- Plans and oversees the resources required to provide support for enterprise-wide and function specific programs. Promotes professional development in their area(s) of expertise, ensuring there is a team of professionals necessary to advance the goals of the organization.
- Responsible for development and career management of team members.
- Ensures the development of future technical talent across all of ITS.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Master's degree with 10 years of experience plus professional training in project management. Sample degrees include: Computer Science, Library Science, Information Management or Information Systems. (Bachelor's degree is minimum education requirement, with 12+ years of relevant experience)
- Experience managing programs and/or multiple projects, including simultaneous task assignments.
- Knowledge and experience in Enterprise Architecture frameworks, Solution Design, modeling, design and implementation
- Proficient in translating business processes into Information/Solution architecture blueprints, experience developing Integration Architecture for various Information exchange across various Enterprise systems
- Experience in delivering successful systems within a variety of business sectors.
- Proven ability to develop detailed solution design (Business objects, Data Objects, ER models, Interfaces etc.)
- Well rounded technology experience - Java, SharePoint, IBM, SAP, Peoplesoft etc.
- Understands and maintains market trends in technology & architecture including hardware and software based solutions
- Understands Architecture Constructs - (Architecture & Design patterns, SOA etc.), Development Methodologies (Agile, Iterative etc.)
- Knowledge of databases, best practices in Information & Solution Architecture and applying them to solve problems
- Proficient in Software Development Life Cycle, and experience in full life-cycle implementations
- Must have experience using MS Visio for documenting process/information flows and architecture, knowledge of iGrafx a plus
- Experience working with various stakeholders (business, technology etc.) and conducting workshops to obtain relevant information
- Excellent oral and written communication, documentation and presentation skills
- Ability to work with independently, and direct a team of architects.
