About the role
The Manager – M&E will play a leading role in the implementation of the M&E Strategy, including coordination of M&E resources to ensure efficient administration of all surveys, data collection for reporting and other qualitative and quantitative activities. The Manager – M&E will have three full time direct reports, covering both Nairobi and Pretoria hubs.

The Manager – M&E will have three full time direct reports, covering both Nairobi and Pretoria hubs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and quality assure the production of statistical country reports and the overall monthly statistical report on Award figures
- Quality assure all data outputs produced by the M&E Officers, including ad hoc reports, to be provided to the client
- Oversee data management in the Scholar Database to ensure M&E Officers are keeping the data updated and of as high quality
- Assist the M&E Specialist in overseeing the implementation of M&E studies. Studies planned for 2015 include the annual outcomes study
- Manage logistics for such studies
- Draft data collection tools, conduct analysis of data (both qualitative and quantitative data) and contribute to report writing for M&E studies and formative assessments
- Participate in re-engineering of M&E systems with a view to achieving maximum efficiency and quality in analysis of data and reporting. This includes the annual review process of the M&E Strateg
About You
Selection Criteria
- Master’s degree (preferred), minimum Bachelors (Honours) in Evaluation, Social Science or related field (highly desired). Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area coupled with a minimum of five years of experience in a similar role may be acceptable;
- Experience in the field of monitoring and evaluation, preferably with exposure to donor funded programs;
- Knowledge of monitoring and evaluation concepts, tools and processes (both quantitative and qualitative), as well as an understanding of project administration
- Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to prepare data collection instruments, analyse and summarise data and interpret results for the benefit of program improvement;
- 3-5 years’ experience in working with and managing large databases;
- Field work experience as part of team conducting studies;
- Experience managing small teams;Personal Qualities:
The successful candidate must be able to work independently, operate under pressure to tight deadlines, and be able to multi-task. The appointee will be outgoing and comfortable meeting people and representing the organisation externally, and will be enthusiastic, reliable, flexible and well-organised
