EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization with the exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. It also endeavors to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles. The ICRC Somalia delegation in Nairobi is seeking for an experienced and motivated person to fill the position of:
****STAFF NURSE****

Main Responsibilities:

· Handle immediate medical emergencies for ICRC staff in Somalia and accord medical evacuation if required (in coordination with Health coordinator in Nairobi),
· Act as contact person regarding medical issues and accidents in accordance with the ICRC framework and procedures,
· Counsel and guide staff on Health related problems,
· Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to all medical information,
· Advice and refer adequately to Insurance recognized doctors and health structures,
· Help in booking medical appointments,
· Help for hospital admission & discharge process (letter of undertaking, etc.),
· Carry out visits of ICRC hospitalized staff in Somalia,
· Follow vaccination of newly recruited staff, end of mission staff in Somalia,
· Handle medical correspondence with health providers (email, phone call, letter) in Somalia,
· Maintain all individual medical files (report, data, copies of bills, cover pages, etc.) for all the staff in the Somalia,
· Process all medical invoices (cover sheet, green accounting stickers),
· Review the medical invoices above the limit (covered by the ICRC),
· Link with external health partners (structures, providers, Insurance),
· With Health Staff Delegate, participate in the identification of reference medical facilities in Somalia,
· Report to the administrator any irregularities re. sick leave or medical bills,
· Participate to health prevention and health education sessions for the staff in the Somalia.
****Minimum requirements.****
  • Ÿ Diploma or degree in nursing,
  • Ÿ Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar function (nursing & administration),
  • Ÿ Registered Nurse,
  • Ÿ Very good computer literacy,
  • Ÿ Good rigor, method and analytical skills,
  • Ÿ Management skills,
  • Ÿ Very good knowledge of spoken and written English,
  • Ÿ Excellent knowledge of spoken and written Somali language.
